A-J Media’s Mike Graham writes about Mia Castaneda, who had always wanted to come to Texas Tech, but was never offered a scholarship from the prior staff. Castaneda, originally from Hereford, talks about getting that offer:

“When they called me to say that they wanted to offer me a scholarship, I almost hung up,” Castaneda said. “I didn’t really think it was real and was like, ‘OK, I’ve got to go to Bible study really quick, and I’ll call you back.’ It really wasn’t a big deal and I was nonchalant about it. I let it sink in, talked to my coach and he said, ’No. That’s where you’re going to go. They want you and I think you’ll fit in really well there.”

I haven’t seen this reported anywhere else, but it appears that Coach Stollings may have another commit in Sacramento’s Nailah Dillard.

Texas Tech Football

This is about as well done a thing as you’ll ever see.

USAToday’s Doug Farrar has an interesting piece about how NFL defenses have lost their way in the recent explosion of offense. This is a good read, has nothing to do with Texas Tech or college, but interesting to think about in the college context. I’ll try to watch and post parts II and III.
