Leading Off
To remind everyone, I’m trekking to Lubbock this weekend with Fitsum and Youssouf. I have no idea how my game-day is going to play out, but if I’m around and tailgating, I’ll see if we can’t hook up. It’s always so difficult to plan with kids and a group of people that I’m traveling with because we’re not sure what we’ll be doing. In any event, if you see me at the game, please say hello.
Texas Tech Volleyball
I think volleyball just started their second half of the Big 12 season, so at this point, they have already passed their Big 12 win total. I know that the team went on a bit of a skid, but they are making slow and steady improvement.
Business handled 💼
We’ve now surpassed last season’s regular season and Big 12 win totals.

Texas Tech Soccer
Jade King wins it on penalty kicks (well, Jade and Carly Wickenheiser, Ally Griffin, Marissa Zucchetto, and King all made their kicks while TCU missed one). The ladies advance to play the No. 1 seed Baylor Bears on Friday, November 2nd at 4:30 p.m.
“We’re going up against the team that won our conference,” Stone said. “We know what that means, and we know what it’ll take to be victorioius, which is everything we’ve got. The good news about our team is we’re not afraid to put forth that kind of effort.”

Don’t have time to do a non-transcript and Kingsbury talked about how Bowman had some bad body language, but he’ll improve. Kingsbury also said that he needs to come up with a better plan and the offensive line needs to be more physical at the point of attack. Kingsbury gave credit to Adam Scheier for the inclusiveness for the special teams and the improvement of the team. Kyler is a freak, thinks the world of him, and never seen anyone better at the high school level and he’d take him with the first pick. Fired up to play Oklahoma at night and at home and that’s why the kids came to play at Texas Tech. Kingsbury also said that he doesn’t know what to tell guys like Joe Wallace and Jordyn Brooks as those looked like pretty clean plays.
A-J Media’s Don Williams recaps yesterday’s press conference if you can’t listen to it, but here’s a bit:
“That was a learning experience for him, going against a very good defense,” Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury said during his media availability Sunday afternoon. “Like I said after the (Saturday) game, I have to put him in better situations and make sure he’s comfortable with the game plan. As an offense, we’ve got to run the football better. You can’t put it on a true freshman quarterback, no matter how well he’s been playing to throw it 60 times against that defense.
“I thought he competed hard and he kept fighting, it just didn’t go our way (Saturday).”
OddsShark has the opening line at Oklahoma -10.5 and it hasn’t moved since it was released, which is interesting in that there hasn’t been any movement.
