Freshman quarterback Alan Bowman was given the highest grade by ProFootballFocus of the true freshmen thus far this season and is the third highest amount FBS quarterbacks (don’t ask me how he hasn’t been named the top weekly quarterback the past two weeks, but it’s really not a big deal):
Bowman isn’t just the top-graded freshman here but he is also the nation’s third-highest graded quarterback across the entire FBS landscape. Displaying remarkable poise in his first season at Texas Tech, Bowman has thrown eight big-time throws while he has not had a turnover-worthy play on his 137 dropbacks this season. Not even the starter when the season began, Bowman may have done enough already to keep McLane Carter off the top of the depth chart even when he’s healthy.
Bowman’s 80.2 percent adjusted completion percentage ranks 15th in the nation among qualifying quarterbacks, but second to only Mason Fine among quarterbacks with at least 100 attempts through three weeks.
Miscellaneous . . . SB Nation’s Bill Connelly has his computer generated weekly spread picks and with the line at -13.5 (it’s actually up to -14), he’s taking Oklahoma State straight up and against the spread . . . NewsOK’s Berry Tramel also takes the Pokes straight up and vs. the spread . . . LandGrant Gauntlet’s Josh Cowan has 10 ridiculous stats from week 4 including some Texas Tech numbers . . .
