This is great news for this young man and for Texas Tech football, as it appears that the theft charges filed yesterday against running back Da’Leon Ward have been dismissed, per his attorney, Tray Payne:

I’m really happy that whatever happened really didn’t happen as far as Ward is concerned and whatever the situation regarding the football team is really sort of secondary. Without presuming too much, I would think that this should put Ward back in good standing with the team, especially with such a short turnaround of events.
And if this investigation was conducted by the Texas Tech Police Department and they’ve known about this alleged incident since November and had charges sealed in June . . . well, I think I’d like some answers as to how and why this situation came about and then charges dropped in less than 24 hours.
UPDATE 08/22/2018 12:15:48 PM: A-J Media’s Gabriel Monte has this quote from the Lubbock County District Attorney Matt Powell:
“I’m sorry the young man got arrested,” said Powell. “He should have never been arrested, the case should have never been filed.”
