The volleyball team met with the media yesterday.
Huge congrats to former Red Raider footballer Janine Beckie who signed a one-year deal with Manchester City (TexasTech):
Absolutely thrilled to announce that I have signed a contract with @ManCityWomen in England for the upcoming regular season and Champions League campaign.
Thank you @ALNaigeon7 for making this happen! pic.twitter.com/tnz3Yh6dD3

“We are thrilled for Janine,” said Texas Tech head coach Tom Stone. “It’s always been a dream of hers to play overseas. We can’t wait to see her in that environment and what it will bring out of her game. What a wonderful opportunity, and it should prove to be great preparation for her as she prepares for the World Cup.”

You all seemed to enjoy #CoachTalk yesterday and Yahoo! Sports’ Pete Thamel ranks the Group of Five coaches on the rise. Memphis’ Mike Norvell gets the first spot, with Toledo’s Jason Candle second, Boise State’s Bryan Harsin third, FAU’s Lane Kiffin fourth, and Troy’s Neal Brown 5th. I know a lot of you don’t like Neal, but I think Brown left a really good impression on Hocutt and a lot of people at Texas Tech. Keep in mind that Brown has a record of 21-5 the past two years, which is pretty good. And Seth Littrell is is ninth on the list.
Miscellaneous . . . Via KWTX, Art Briles filed documents that show that, “multiple senior Baylor administrators knew about a serial sexual assault assailantβ in the fall of 2011, but failed to act,” and now we may be witnessing Baylor folks tear each other apart and this seems all too familiar . . . and WacoTrib’s Phillip Ericksen writes that they’ve obtained emails that these top Baylor administrators discussed by email this sexual assault, which was the Tevin Elliott sexual assaults (he’s serving a 20 year prison sentence) prior to his second rape and if you ever wanted to know that the Pepper Hamilton report was a bunch of crap, well . . .
