A huge commitment from a huge defensive lineman, Gilbert Ibeneme, depending on the recruiting service, a 4-star to 3-star defensive end with a really nice offer list.

RedRaiderSports’ Matt Clare talked to Ibeneme about his commitment:
“I was just ready to make my decision,” Ibeneme said. “There was no time to wait, I talked with my parents and they knew I was really liking Texas Tech. My brother is there at Tech and I just decided that it was my time to commit.
“I sent Coach (Terrance) Jamison a text a few days ago, then we connected and talked on the phone. He was really excited and told me they were ready for me. I’m supposed to talk with the other coaches soon, but they have all been in contact with messages saying congrats and welcome to the family, things like that.”
There’s more there, so make sure and check it out.
The latest video we have of Ibeneme is from his sophomore year, as Ibeneme tore his ACL and missed all of his junior year. He was obviously pretty dominant if he was still able to gather offers, significant offers, while he was injured.
Ibeneme is just a really big kid, even as a sophomore, you can kinds see how he’s a long kid and maybe still growing into his body. So he’s got a great frame that he’s probably going to grow into at some point and you could maybe see how he could be a strongside defensive end and maybe even a very athletic tackle. To be 245 as a senior and missing his junior year says that he’s going to have some size.
