Texas Tech won the danged game. Behind a starter that normally only goes 2 innings and piecemeal pitching staff, Texas Tech won the danged game. A huge 2 innings to start the game from Dylan Dusek, with Ryan Shetter (W, 6-0) coming in for 4.1, giving up a run on a balk that I didn’t understand, walking 1 and striking out 7. Ty Harpenau came in and pitched the final 2.2 frames, giving up a 2 run home run (he’s only attributed with 1 of those runs, the other went to Shetter), walking 2 and striking out 3.
Vaunted Florida starter Brady Singer, who looked like Cy Young early, ended up giving up 5 runs, only 2 earned, and 9 hits, taking the loss for the game. Grant Little had an unbelievable catch and also went 3 for 3 with a run scored an an RBI. At the top of the lineup, Gabe Holt went 2-5 with 3 RBI. Every starter had a hit other than Brian Klien and Braxton Fulford and I’d bet that you don’t get to say that about Singer very often.

I didn’t get to see one pitch of this game, but this is a game where the box score maybe doesn’t tell the whole story. Gabe Holt apparently had a couple of issues in right field that maybe allowed a few runs and the Arkansas pitchers were missing a lot of bats, 14 strikeouts for the Razorbacks. The Texas Tech offense only managed 6 hits overall. Davis Martin gave up 5 runs, walked 1 and struck out 6. The offense and the pitching need to be better. Let’s do it again today at 7:00 p.m.
