For the sixth time this week, fourth time this weekend and second time this hour, the Red Raiders received a commitment. Trey Cleveland announced shortly after Matthews committed that he received an offer from Texas Tech and decided that he would commit to them.
Cleveland is the three pass catcher and second receiver to commit this week. He’s the fourth pass catcher overall and third receiver in this class. Here’s his measurables and a little something about his recruitment:
Trey Cleveland – Wide Receiver (Arlington HS, Arlington, TX)
Height Weight 40 time Shuttle Vertical Bench 400 meter 6’4″ 180 lbs 4.44 4.30 33″ 205 lbs 52 secs Interest: South Illinois (only offer), Baylor, Colorado State, Minnesota, Tulsa

We really don’t know a whole lot about Cleveland. While I was writing a story for another commit, I tried to look up his recruiting profiles but was unable to find them, The recruiting sites might have added them after he committed.
And that’s not their fault. Apparently he had just one offer and was relatively unknown. He was the leading receiver for Arlington High School last season, with 35 catches for 522 yards and six touchdowns. This is similar to Corey Fulcher of the 2018 class, whom was an unranked DFW receiver whenever he committed to the Red Raiders.
Why did get an offer? Because when he camped with Texas Tech the weekend of the Super Regional. He ran a 4.44 40 time. For a guy that’s 6’4″, that’s pretty damn good. Also being a top receiver for a DFW school, that was enough for the coaching staff to extend an offer. Cleveland jumped on that immediately.
We can’t really tell a whole lot from his film, but there are a few things we know. He can block downfield, or at least get the way of the defender and help his receiver gain ore yards. He also has pretty good hands, grabbing some ball off the ground and catching a contested ball or two.
Links: There isn’t really a whole lot of his commitment, considering he just got offered, but InsideTheRedRaiders does have something:
- Zach Tanner of InsideTheRedRaiders had a couple quotes from Cleveland when he camped. Zach Tanner of InsideTheRedRaiders talked with Cleveland about Texas Tech, what he needs to work on and more.
