This is a somewhat rare Saturday Morning Stake, but there’s so much going on today so let’s get to it.
The ladies tennis team defeated Army 4-0 yesterday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Lubbock Regional (official site). Up next is Illinois today at 1:00 p.m. and the winner will advance to the NCAA Sweet 16 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina next weekend.
So proud of these ladies. The softball team took down Baylor yesterday by a score of 6-5 and then dropped the second game 7-6 to Oklahoma State (official site). Jessica Freaking Hartwell hit her 20th homerun of the season. That’s nothing short of amazing. These ladies will take on Texas at 1:30 p.m. today, the game being televised on FCS.
The men’s team is in sunny Los Angeles to take on San Diego in the opening round of the NCAA Los Angeles Regional (official site). The Red Raiders defeated the Toros earlier this year, 4-3, so you can expect this to be a very close game.
The track and field teams are in Waco participating in the Big 12 Championship and here’s a recap of the first day (official site).
