Jenson Update, Part II: Jenson was out of surgery last night around 11:00 and the doctors think they got 98% of the tumor. They’ll do an MRI to determine if they got all of it or need to go back. Won’t have pathology results until Monday. Thank you all for your good thoughts, positive vibes and prayers. Love you all for it.

I’m out to go see Jenson, my sister, and his family in San Diego today through Sunday. I’ll see you all next week.

Spring Dates. The official site has the official dates for the spring events (Don Williams had this yesterday as well). Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt talked about continuing those scrimmages in Midland and Frisco:

“The Midland and Dallas-Fort Worth areas are so important to our athletics department,” Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. “We’re excited to bring our football program back to both Midland and Frisco this year while also hosting the Spring Game in front of our fans in Lubbock. Our fan base was tremendous in their support of this format last year, so we look forward to playing in front of Red Raiders throughout the state again this spring.”

  • March 3 – Start of Spring Practices
  • March 24 – Midland Scrimmage (Grande Communications Stadium)
  • April 7 – Frisco Scrimmage (Ford Center at The Star in Frisco)
  • April 14 – Texas Tech Spring Game (Jones AT&T Stadium)

Preferred Walk-On. Last night, wide receiver Caden Leggett agreed to be a preferred walk-on for Texas Tech last night:

Leggett is a 3-star player and this is a pretty good get for Texas Tech, especially as a preferred walk-on. Leggett had offers from Army, Central Arkansas and Texas State and adding Leggett as a walk-on is pretty impressive.

If you’d like to hear from Leggett, check out InsideTheRedRaiders’ Zach Tanner or RedRaiderSports’ Maitland Rutledge where he talks about his decision to commit to Texas Tech.

Miscellaneous: Sports On Earth’s Matt Brown ranks all 130 FBS teams and has your Red Raiders at #51 . . . via AL.com, Alabama and Nick Saban made it official by hiring former Texas Tech secondary coach Karl Scott as their secondary coach . . .
