Shortly after yesterday’s loss to South Florida, Texas Tech linebacker Dakota Allen announced on Twitter that he would be returning for his senior year.

Love my team! Love my school! Love these fans! I want to thank all the seniors for a memorable year. With that being said, I will be returning to Texas Tech next season. #TTVE #2018

This is terrific news for Texas Tech as Allen was one of the team leaders in tackles and helped turn around a rushing defense that was near the worst in the country last year to one that became a top third rushing defense in 2017. Allen, along with Jordyn Brooks, will be the backbone to the defense in 2018.
