FSWT’s Carlos Mendez also reports that QB Kenny Hill will not travel and S Niko Small and K Jonathan song will also not travel with the team. Linebacker Travin Howard will travel, but will be a game-time decision:
Robinson, who has played in five games, was on track to play more in the final two games of the regular season even before Hill’s status changed, Patterson indicated earlier this week. Now it is more likely Robinson will start Saturday and perhaps beyond.
A-J Media’s Don Williams writes about putting Texas Tech’s crowd’s into perspective:
Discontent with Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury and a four-game losing streak in games six through nine obviously have a lot to do with it, but so does discontent with 11 a.m. kickoffs. Anecdotal evidence suggests Red Raiders fans hate those, and this week will be the team’s seventh pre-noon start of the season and third at home.
The sagging attendance figures are a product of both factors, but which contributes more? And how much are they out of line based on recent norms?
Tech fans have spoken loud and clear that the early games are a major turnoff — and that’s true of the students especially. The student scan numbers were 10,873 for the 3 p.m. season opener against Eastern Washington, then 11,275 for Arizona State and 12,312 for Oklahoma State, both 7 p.m. starts. Then, as noted above, 6,946 and 4,721 for the 11 a.m. starts.
