It’s a quiet day today. Tuesdays always seem quiet during football season, but there’s not much news at all this morning. Men’s basketball starts tomorrow, I don’t think you’ll be able to watch it unless you actually attend the game, but men’s basketball is officially on it’s way.
With basketball season almost here, I did want to let you guys know that Dorothy will no longer be able to do Lady Raider basketball posts. Her life has become increasingly more busy as she has to take care of a parent. Between life, work and taking care of her mom, she had to give this up and I informed her that I absolutely understood her situation. That’s so much more important than what we’re doing here. I need you guys/gals to let me know if you want me to do an open thread for Lady Raider basketball games. I won’t be able to do very much, but I can certainly do an open thread if this is something you all want.
To end on some good news, Youssouf officially became a U.S. Citizen on Saturday. It was at the USCIS office in Irving and this was a citizenship ceremony just for kids, so that was really need. Kids from all over the world hoping for an opportunity. They asked that all of the kids under 14 dress up and so both Fitsum and Youssouf were ready with their costumes. Saturday was a good day, one that took 3.5+ years to get here as we started the adoption process in early 2013 and here were are almost in 2018.

A-J Media’s Carlos Silva, Jr. writes about the Big 12 teleconference and head coach Kliff Kingsbury is concerned about those Kansas State special teams:
“Last year, that kickoff return really changed the game for them,” Kingsbury said during the Big 12 media teleconference Monday. “Gave them a lead going into halftime and we didn’t recover from there. We understand they have dynamic playmakers, they’re well coached and that’s going to be a huge phase in this ball game.”
Kingsbury is hoping this go-around — an 11 a.m. Saturday home contest — goes a bit different as both squads head into the crucial conference clash with identical 4-4 overall records and needing two wins to become bowl eligible with four games to play in the regular season.
Miscellaneous . . . A-J Media’s Michael LaBarre has how the Texas Tech commitments did this past week . . . ESPN has their Big 12 power rankings and Texas Tech sits at #8 while Kansas State is at #7 . . .
