The weekend thread is updated as Texas Tech wins a double-header on Saturday to win the series and dropped the final game on Sunday. Texas Tech baseball will have the weekend off and are now 13-8 for the year in the Big 12, while TCU swept Texas and moved to 15-6. TCU has one final conference series at Oklahoma this weekend and then a final series in Berkley to take on Cal to end the year. Meanwhile, Texas Tech just has Kansas in Lubbock to end the year the weekend of the 19th through the 21st.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had his first practice with the Chiefs and said that the playbook is a bit tougher to handle:
“It’s a lot more than I had at Texas Tech,” Mahomes said, via ESPN. “Whenever I got up there and called it, then I had to look out there and see the guys and make sure everybody was in the right position. That was pretty much the process, and it was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.”
Rivals’ Nick Krueger writes that Texas Tech wide receivers coach Emmett Jones is one of the hotter recruiters in the Big 12:
What heβs done: No surprise that the wide receivers coach for one of the top college offenses in the country has done well so far in 2018. Robinson, who is starting to see more attention on the recruiting trail after some impressive spring camp performances, is looking like a very smart target. Denton-Ryan standout Gabriel Douglas committed to Tech after his first discussion with Jones. Even though he announced his decommitment Friday morning, Giddings WR Treveon Johnson had been committed thanks to Jones, who also helped secure the commitment of junior college transfer Myron Mitchell. When a product sells itself as well as the Red Raiders offense, Jones has a pretty strong sales pitch with recruits.
As noted, Treveon Johnson de-committed on Friday and I still haven’t updated the 2018 commitment list. Johnson was offered by Oklahoma and that’s the likely landing spot.
