The Morning Stake: April 17th

Texas Tech Track and Field

Texas Tech Volleyball

Texas Tech Golf

Texas Tech Softball

The softball team dropped all three games to the Longhorns this weekend. This is the last game of the series.

Texas Tech Tennis

Lady Raider Basketball

Via the LAJ, the Lady Raider basketball team and Candi Whitaker are losing an incredibly important freshman in Arella Guirantes to a transfer:

“I would like to thank Arella for all of her hark work and dedication to the Lady Raider program,” Whitaker said. “We have spent a lot of time together this season and are proud of her freshman campaign.

After discussing all the options with her, we respect her decision to transfer and find a university close to home. We wish her nothing but the best in the future.”

This is a pretty big deal and with assistant coach Ray Caldwell leaving the program, you really hope that Recee’ Caldwell stays at Texas Tech because that would be devastating.

Texas Tech Baseball

Texas Tech baseball took 2 of 3 from Kansas State. You can watch the highlights, get links and recaps to games in the weekend thread.. That’s 8-4 for Texas Tech in the conference, only behind TCU who sits at 9-2. Texas Tech hosts Oklahoma State this weekend and had a mid-week game in Midland against New Mexico State.

Texas Tech Football

It was sort of a busy weekend for Texas Tech football as a handful of things were posted to the front page. We’re have a lot more content this week (more on Spike Dykes’ memorial service, roundtables from the staff at Staking The Plains and more).
