The Lady Raiders (11-11, 3-8 Big12) head to Fort Worth to play the TCU Horned Frogs (11-11, 3-8 Big12) on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. This will be the 48th meeting between these two teams. Texas Tech holds the series lead 40-7 and a 16-3 record when the game is played in Fort Worth. The Lady Raiders need to win tonight. They head into this game with TCU with the same Big12 standings at 3-8 in league play, This puts both of these teams half a game out of sixth and a full game out of fifth in the Big 12 standings. Going into the Big12 Championship tournament in three weeks (7 more games including this one) only the top six teams receive first round byes. Texas Tech should be able to beat TCU tonight and then again on Feb 27th. They also should be able to get a win against Kansas on Feb 18th. That would give them three more wins. The other 3 games they could win if they play well are against OU, Iowa State and OSU. The one I would love but very much doubt is the Baylor game in Waco on Feb 25th. This is a much improved TCU squad and the Lady Raiders will have to control the flow and to defend against the 3-Pt shots. Tech needs to be aggressive on the boards and in the paint if they are to win this game.
