Jones played for Mike Leach and Texas Tech, graduating in 2006, and spent a bulk of his coaching career at East Carolina coaching with Ruffin McNeal. Jones was Cal’s offensive line coach for two years while Sonny Dykes was the head coach.
UPDATE: Texas Tech has made it official. Here’s head coach Kliff Kingsbury:
“We’re excited to welcome Coach Jones to our staff,” Kingsbury said. “He’s regarded as one of the top offensive line coaches in the country, and our program will benefit from his leadership. We’re looking forward to our offensive line continuing to develop under him.”
