According to CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodds, the Big 12 and the Pac-12 discussed a scheduling alliance with each other during the most recent expansion talks:

The discussions focused on a scheduling agreement between the two conferences to bolster each league’s nonconference schedules in the College Football Playoff era, according to multiple sources.
Any talk of a Pac-12-Big 12 merger during that time “is not accurate,” according to Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby.
“We talked over probably three years about things we might work together on [with the Pac-12],” Bowlsby added. “I had the same conversation about the SEC and the ACC. We’re always looking for those kinds of things. There’s probably a dozen topics about whether aggregation might make some sense.”

RRS’s Drew Kohnle talked with incoming freshman offensive lineman Dawson Deaton:

WHAT POSITION WILL YOU BE PLAYING AT TEXAS TECH?

“I’m starting off at center.”

WHAT IS A PERSONAL STRENGTH THAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE AT TECH?

“On the field I think I will be bringing a lot of aggressiveness to the offensive line. Just getting after it, firing off the ball, and driving people back. That is my favorite thing to do.

“Even though it is a pass heavy offense, being able to get after people is my favorite thing to do.”

Kohnle also talked with QB Xavier Martin too:

WHAT IS A PERSONAL STRENGTH THAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE AT TECH?

“My speed is big, but everybody just thinks I can run the ball, but I feel like throw the ball a lot more than I run and a lot better than I run most of the time.”

WHAT IS ONE THING THAT YOU NEED TO WORK ON IN ORDER TO PLAY AT THE NEXT LEVEL?

“Being able to throw into tight spaces and read defenses more.”

Bronson Boyd appears to make everything official.
