Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes to Enter NFL Draft

Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes announced that he will enter the 2017 NFL Draft. Mahomes is a junior and passed for 5,052 yards, completing 65.7% of his passes for 8.5 yards per attempt with 41 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Mahomes also ran for 285 yards and scored 12 rushing touchdowns. Texas Tech finished 5-7 on the year and Mahomes was a true bright spot for the Texas Tech offense. Mahomes battled through a shoulder dislocation against Kansas and a wrist injury from the Oklahoma game (on his non-throwing wrist), but did not have surgery until the offseason. Mahomes battled through injuries this past year and never missed a start.

Mahomes will be missed and Texas Tech will look to replace him with either returning senior Nik Shimonek, JUCO transfer McLane Carter or redshirt freshman Jett Duffey.

We wish the best of success to Mahomes. For me, personally, Mahomes was one of my favorite players to ever wear the scarlet and black and consider myself lucky to have seen him play in two games this year. And please be happy for Mahomes. He gets to chase a really awesome dream and that’s one of the best things in life.

Make us proud and be your best every single day.

We’ll miss you MegaMahomes! Wreck’Em!
