Hines is regarded as a two-star player by both Scout and Rivals. I’m somewhat shocked that there’s no player profile for Hines on 24/7 Sports because they almost always have a player profile. I’d guess they even have one on me. Anyway, Hines is originally from Long Beach, so it makes sense for him to play at Long Beach C.C. I couldn’t find anything about Hines as a high schooler, which is odd. There’s usually something out there. Hines visited Texas Tech back in May and very politely declined the offer. That’s something you don’t ever actually see, players declining offers.
While at LBCC, Hines ended being named second team all-conference. In watching his film, he’s going to have to lose some weight and really improve his overall strength. He played left tackle for LBCC and that played fine, but he’s a guard to me all of the way. Just doesn’t have the athletic ability to play tackle in my opinion. Hines does do a good job of extending his hands, but he’s got a lot to work on from a technical standpoint. And I’m not totally opposed to this. Hines apparently has 3 years to play 2 seasons and if Hines redshirted, I think that would be fine. Heck, De’Quan Bowman redshirted last year and that was probably the absolute best thing for him. And if I had to guess, I’d guess that Hines hasn’t played a ton of football, so the redshirt makes a lot of sense.
