Texas Tech released their baseball schedule yesterday and it features some real doozies. The non-conference part of the slate starts off against Mississippi State and continues with Cal, Ohio State, New Mexico, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and LSU (all in Houston in March) as well as World Series runner-up Arizona. Basicially, Tim Tadlock ain’t afraid to play any team anywhere.

LAJ’s Krista Pirtle talked with Texas Tech point guard Keenan Evans about a handful of topics, mainly the opposing point guards in the Big 12:
“It’s either Jawun Evans or Frank Mason. Just because they’re smaller and they’re super quick. They’re some good scorers. It’s always tough to keep up with them. But it’s always a good challenge to go up against them.”

Former Texas Tech linebacker Dakota Allen was offered last night. Allen was previously dismissed from the team after being arrested for stealing guns (charges were eventually dropped). This is a big deal and it’s been interesting to see Kingsbury forgive Allen in a sense (not that he was every personally mad at him, but in the football sense). From all accounts Allen is a really good person and I’ve mentioned that I had two people email me out of the blue to express what a good person Allen is and what happened previously was entirely out of character for him. Allen spent the year at East Mississippi J.C.

I’ve been watching this deal with Disney possibly selling off ESPN, the thought here is that ESPN is dragging Disney down, despite Disney having the Star Wars franchise, they still haven’t had huge stock gains because of the ESPN drag (allegedly). Awful Announcing has a nice look at how the mechanics of the deal would work, which is essentially just Disney selling off the network and all that comes with it. The question is who would bid on ESPN, could it be Amazon or Apple or some other company, but they’d need to be just outright purchased. There’s part of me that thinks that there’s really nothing that can replace live sports, the thought though is that
