Some of you may have heard, but Willie Nelson had to postpone his concert here last week due to illness. Think happy thoughts for Willie and his family, and let’s hope he’s on the mend.
To cheer us up a bit, a couple of other Texas natives have made waves in music recently with Robert Earl Keen releasing his Live Dinner Reunion record tomorrow while George Strait played a surprise concert last night at Gruene Hall to promote his second box set. I’ve been streaming Keen’s latest this week at work and was treated to a nice nugget about Lubbock and a shoutout to us Red Raiders in the middle of his rerecording of Terry Allen’s “Amarillo Highway”. Also, just in case Strait decides to do this again, a couple of us on Twitter have decided to camp out at Floore’s, but we may need to add the Broken Spoke and Cheatham to that list. There will be breakfast burritos.
Now, for those of you brave souls headed to Ames, meet up with the Texas Tech Alumni Association.
Join fellow Red Raiders at 11:30 a.m. for this event sponsored by the TTAA and Red Raider Club. We will meet in the Horton Multi-Purpose Conference Room, which is located inside the Iowa State Alumni Center. This will provide easy access to the game, as it is directly north of Jack Trice Stadium.
There is no admission charge and there will be food and drink as well as a cash bar. So, come on out and get ready to cheer on the red and black!
If you’re back in Lubbock and ready to join the #waronthanksgiving and get into the Christmas spirit, Holiday Happening runs until the 20th while the West Texas Polar Express starts shuttling rides to the North Pole on the 19th until December 23rd.
Have you ever wanted to take a ride in a B-17? Now’s your chance! How cool would that be?
