original-double-t Kliff Kingsbury was made available after practice and LAJ’s Don Williams and RRS’s Will McKay both break down the presser (with the basketball game, I just didn’t have any time to do the same).

Williams’ article focuses initially on the cold weather expected in Ames and that the team isn’t expected to make any changes to what they normally do. Williams also has a break-down of the players expected to play, noting that Demarcus Felton didn’t practice, Da’Leon Ward was participating in a non-contact basis, while Kolin Hill and Keke Coutee are available. And then there’s this:

He said wide receiver Devin Lauderdale, defensive end Gary Moore and linebacker D’Vonta Hinton won’t play this week. Hinton has missed the past four games with what Kingsbury initially called a head injury. Moore and Lauderdale have each missed the last three games for what Kingsbury continues to call a “coaches’ decision,” without elaborating on details.

McKay’s article also has quotes from DT Breiden Fehoko, S Jah’Shawn Johnson and CB Justis Nelson. Fehoko talked about how he thinks the defense has played much better since the Oklahoma game:

“I think just learning from the first six games of the season. I mean ever since the OU game, I think we have kind of come together and said you know what, we have six more left –two more not – and there is some pressure but we want to play like there is no pressure. Everybody just bought in. I’m grateful for the guys next to me and the guys behind me who have stepped in and bought in for me to do my job.”

Lots more there on both articles.

original-double-t So on Tech Talk with Chris Level and Aaron Dickens, one of the first things they discussed was the idea that Dakota Allen has reached out to certain people (I presume coaches) to come back to finish what he started at Texas Tech. That would be truly significant given the situation that the Texas Tech defense could very much use a linebacker that is playing as well as he is. I always had this thought, and I can’t really explain it, that Allen was in the wrong place at the wrong time and if he could just reverse that whole incident, he’d do it in a heartbeat. Allen is averaging 10 tackles a game, yeah, 10 tackles a game for East Mississippi C.C.
