LAJ’s Don Williams writes about Hager-Mahomes kerfuffle as well as Kliff Kingsbury stating that Mahomes is healthy:
“He’s good. He’s good,” Kingsbury said on Monday. “The best he’s been. I think it scared him. He landed right on it. I’m sure there was some pain, but he sounds like he will be able to practice almost a full week, so that should help.
“(His) not being able to throw with the velocity during the week in practice has affected some things,” in recent weeks, Kingsbury said, “but it sounds like we’ll have a better week this week.”
LAJ’s Don Williams has a notebook from yesterday’s press conference and Kingsbury was asked about the defensive improvement:
“You sit around all week and hear things and you either get (mad) and do something about it or you pout and get worse,” Kingsbury said, “and I think they got mad and took it personal and wanted to prove that they could improve and they definitely showed improvement.”
Plus, C Tony Morales will return for a seventh year of eligibility in 2017 and Morales confirmed that he will not turn that extra year of eligibility down after being injured for four years at Texas Tech. Also covered is the idea that this is senior day and Justis Nelson moving back to cornerback during the TCU game.
Statesman’s Kirk Bohls writes about how Charlie Strong and the Longhorns are running out of excuses:
Texas is running out of excuses as fast as it is road games to disprove the theory that it can’t win away from DKR. You’ve heard them all. The Longhorns are too young. They haven’t learned how to win. They’re too uptight. They’re too loose. They play good teams on the road. They lose their whereabouts and are disoriented. The officials don’t like them. It’s harder to kick extra points on the road. They don’t have 100,000 of their own fans rooting for them.
