The Player Speaks: RRS’s Drew Kohnle talked with Jones after he committed:
“I did a lot of thinking and talked with my family and coach and what not. I had been doing a lot of thinking and just came to the conclusion that I wanted to commit to Tech.
“Basically, I’m just trying to get on board and get this thing going. It takes a lot off of my mind, a lot of stress, and I can now focus on school and high school football. It’s the place I really wanted to be which made things easy for me.”

Scouting Report: The thing that jumps out at me is Jones’ leaping ability (see what I did there). Jones has really nice timing in terms of jumping up to contest balls as he’s playing the free safety spot. Jones’ height helps a ton and and it appears that the 6’0″ frame is legitimate. Jones looks fairly adept at the safety spot, playing in space. I’d like to see Jones work a bit more on form tackling. He’ll get his man, but the form needs some work. That won’t fly in the Big 12 or anywhere else. It is encouraging too that Jones is playing at Trinity, one of the best and well-respected programs in the state. Jones plays high-level competition on a weekly basis. I’m guessing the reason that Jones is dinged thus far is because of his speed, although if that speed is accurate, that’s just fine and Jones should get faster this year.
