The Sooners dropped their first game to West Virginia, 6-0, falling to the losers bracket, but came roaring back yesterday against Kansas State, defeating the Wildcats 13-7. A loss for either Texas Tech or Oklahoma sends either team home and whoever wins this game faces West Virginia again on Saturday. I don’t know how much the bullpen for Texas Tech has left, but Tadlock typically doesn’t overextend guys; however, at the most, these guys will get one days rest while pitching from the pen. With Gardner not available in centerfield, it’s a bit of a make-shift outfield with Anthony Lyons at right field, Stephen Smith in center and Tyler Neslony stays in left field.

Game: Friday, May 27th @ 3:15 pm
Texas Tech Starting Pitcher: LHP Steven Gingery (4-1, 2.72)
Oklahoma Starting Pitcher: RHP Dylan Grove (2-1, 3.32)
Final Score & Box Score: Oklahoma 17, Texas Tech 4 (recap | box score)
Well, not the result I was expecting. Run ruled by Oklahoma. Steven Gingery got the start and he was not good, goign just 2.2 innings, allowing 6 hits, 8 runs, although only 3 of them earned, walking 2, striking out 1 and 1 hit by batter. Robert Dugger managed only 1 out, allowing 5 hits, 4 runs, all earned, and walking 1. It gets worse. Hayden Howard pitched 1.1 innings, allowing 6 hits 5 runs, all earned and that’s your 13 runs. The offense only managed only 7 hits, Anthony Lyons was 3-3 witha n RBI and Michael Davis was 2-4 with an RBI.
Regionals start on Friday and let’s hope that the pitching staff can get things in order a bit.
