Have you ever been on a surprise date? It’s essentially as simple as it sounds: your significant other makes plans, maybe tells you what you should or shouldn’t wear, and then takes you out on the town. My wife and I tried to make a habit of doing this, but it had been about a year since our last surprise date.
Last Friday, I was treated to Funky Door, the symphony, then some tacos at Torchy’s. It was a success, and wouldn’t you know it that Largo from Dvořák’s New World Symphony made the Civic Center a little misty for me. I blame the wine.
As mentioned last week, Charley B’s has their Grand Opening night on Friday. Lubbock could use a place where you can actually dance when they’re hosting a popular band, so I’ll be interested to see how this goes. They have a lot of good groups lined up, including the Turnpike Troubadours in March.
