The Lady Raiders (9-4, 0-2 Big12) are looking to win their first Big12 Conference game this season. They played #5 Texas tight on Saturday night but could not pull out the upset win. The Lady Raiders are staying positive on the floor and pushing to get the wins but they need to make every shot count. They started out slow against the Longhorns and did not perform well at the charity-stripe (42.9% FT%). There was a height disadvantage for the Lady Raiders, but they need to get more aggressive on the board and in-the-paint. The most positive stat from this game was the 21 points from Freshman Japreece Dean . She was picked as the Big12 Freshman-of-the-Week for the 3rd time this season. This game was not only the second Conference loss, it was the second game that the Lady Raiders shot below 40% (39.6% FG%) and we will not win games with that field-goal percentage.
Today the Lady Raiders take on the Oklahoma State Cowgirls (11-2, 1-1 Big12) at 6:30pm CST at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, TX. This game will be the a tough fight with both teams coming off of losses. OSU lost to Iowa State and the Lady Raiders will be fighting for their first Conference win. Tech always plays the Cowgirls well and I am hoping that we pull out the win. The Lady Raiders will once again have a height disadvantage in this game and will need to make their shots count from the floor and Tech will need to be tough on the boards if they are to win tonight.
