Well, not every Thursday evening can go perfectly. Reports have surfaced that Texas Tech WR Devin Lauderdale has been suspended indefinitely “due to a failure to uphold Texas Tech Athletic Department Student-Athlete expectations.” That can be any number of things, so I’m hesitant to jump to conclusions. He will be unavailable for the Texas Bowl on December 29, but the good news is that Lauderdale will be back next year, and will have the chance at redemption.
If that isn’t enough to damper your Yuletide spirit, the article also mentions that Mike Mitchell, Jalen Barnes, & Derrick Dixon will also be transferring from the program. Many here on Staking the Plains were disappointed by Mitchell not finding the field, and Barnes & Dixon both had trouble finding the field as sophomores, particularly with the emergence of Jah’Shawn Johnson as a possible premier defensive back in the Big 12. We’ll have more for you as details emerge.
