Secondary Help. Red Raider Sports’ Drew Kohnle has a list of five defensive backs that Texas Tech is considering as Texas Tech only has two defensive back commits in the 2016 class. A lot of these names Kohnle has somewhat dropped before, but the name I haven’t heard is Kene Kwangwu, a running back from Frisco Heritage that the coaching staff is looking at at cornerback. the other names aare D’Angelo Ellis from Cypress Ridge, Desmon Smith from Odessa permian and Ka’Darian Smith from Spring. Quotes from all of those players at the link.

Top Five for Mike Lee. Texas Tech made the top five for 2017 S Mike Lee, from Landry-Walker High School in Louisiana:

Doege on Visit. Red Raider Sports’ Landon Wright talked with 2017 QB Jarret Doege (6-2/188), who visited this past weekend. Jarret is the brother of Seth Doege, does not have any offers thus far, but it’s still early. Texas Tech already has a quarterback in the 2017 class in Xavier Martin, but this could certain add some depth.

Duffey’s Senior Year. Red Raider Sports’ Michael DuPont reports on QB commit Jett Duffey’s senior season, which has been unbelievable, a 9-0 Lake Ridge team:

On how he sees himself in the program: “I see the program fitting me extremely well. Coach [Kliff] Kingsbury is a great coach and I think he will be able to teach me a lot. I feel as if Tech is on the rise, will be a major program one day and shock everyone.”

Lark Hopes to Visit Texas Tech. Via Red Raider Sports’ Drew Kohnle, former TCU commit, WR Courtney Lark (6-1/165) hopes to visit Texas Tech after decommitting from TCU last week. He has Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Houston, Tulsa and Clemson are also on his list of programs to list. Lark is from Bellaire, which is the former high school of Devin Lauderdale.

Picone Ready to Sign. Red Raider Sports’ Adrian Martin talked with 2016 LB commit, Johnathan Picone, is going to sign early, in December, wanting to get started early:

“The whole thought process behind graduating early is going to be so that I’ll be able to get acclimated with my classes and start getting used to things with balancing my academics and athletics at the same time. Also, getting a little bit of a head start on learning the defense, getting in the playbook and change of game speed at the next level. It just seems likes there’s a lot to benefit from coming up early.”
