Thomas Talks Texas Tech. Good stuff from those students at the Double-T Insider as they sat down with former Texas Tech footballer, Zach Thomas:
Where Can Texas Tech Finish? The ESPN Big 12 Blog Bros wonder where Texas Tech can finish the year and I’ll take Jake Trotter’s answer, but click on over for the other two:
Trotter: The Red Raiders could finish as high as third. That’s not a typo. Tech is flying under the radar a bit coming off the back-to-back losses to TCU and Baylor. But guess what — a lot of people are going to lose to TCU and Baylor. The Red Raiders still have a ridiculous offense led by the best QB national pundits never mention, Patrick Mahomes. Against Oklahoma on Oct. 24 will tell us a lot. If the Red Raiders prevail in the Baker Mayfield Bowl, it’s not unthinkable they run the table.
Mahomes Added to Maxwell Award Watch List. Via the Big 12, QB Patrick Mahomes has been added to the Maxwell Award Watch list along with Corey Coleman from Baylor and Baker Mayfield from Oklahoma.
Beaty Opines on Kingsbury and Mahomes. KU Sports’ Matt Tait writes that Kansas head coach David Beaty opines on Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury as well as QB Patrick Mahomes, who he said reminds him of some guy named Johnny:
“He had a couple of scramble throws against Baylor that were, like, ‘Oh my goodness, how did he do that?’” Beaty said of Mahomes. “He reminds me a little bit of (former A&M; QB) Johnny (Manziel) in regard to the escapability that he has, for sure.
“We’ve got another great opportunity this week against another really good football team, one of the best offensive football teams in the country,” Beaty said. “They’re good, now. They’ve got some of the most explosive guys that play Div. I football.”
