With Robert Earl Keen headlining this year’s Kalf Fry on Friday, I thought it would make sense to let him serenade us as we prepare for this week’s game.

RECOMMENDATION OF THE WEEK
The Shack (2309 N Frankford Ave)
Thanks to places like Evie Mae’s and The Shack, Lubbock is coming back alive on the BBQ scene. The Shack delivers on every smoked meat: chicken, sausage, ribs, & brisket. Might I also recommend their homemade banana pudding and apple pie cheesecake? You need these things. Texas Monthly’s Daniel Vaughn also made it over to The Shack during his Lubbock visit.
In the past six months or so, The Shack has expanded and enclosed much more of their restaurant. The Bootlegger’s Lounge was part of the expansion and offers a great bottle selection, some choice beers on tap (they had Deep Ellum’s Dallas Blonde the last time we were there), and live music. Depending on when you come in, you might catch a good deal. We stopped by on a Saturday during a $1.50 Pearl & PBR special. They even loaned us koozies. Now that is service.
