ESPN Big 12 Power Ranking. Via ESPN, we have the first preseason power ranking and your Red Raiders are 8th:

8. Texas Tech: Since starting out 7-0 in Kliff Kingsbury’s debut season two years ago, the Red Raiders have won just two Big 12 games (against Iowa State and Kansas). Sophomore Patrick Mahomes appears to have the promise to finally shut the revolving door at QB. But Tech will still continue to struggle if it doesn’t quell its turnover and penalty epidemic.

Deep Threat. LAJ’s Don Williams writes that WR Devin Lauderdale thinks he is a main target after his late-season surge last year, while wide receiver coach Darrin Chiaverini knows that there are things that Lauderdale needs to improve upon:

“He’s shown that he can win on the deep ball,” Chiaverini said. “That’s going to make corners respect the deep game.

“He’s got to improve his stride length, his depth of routes and being able to win versus press coverage, and he knows that. We’ve had those conversations, and what’s good about where Devin is right now mentally is he’s up for the challenge. He wants to be great, and he’s working toward it.”

Kaster on Red Raider Most Likely.
