Softball Sweeps Series Against Oklahoma State. Woot! The softball team had their first road sweep of the year, knocking off Oklahoma State in game three yesterday, 8-4. Oklahoma State isn’t a great team, but who cares. A sweep is a sweep and congrats to coach Adrian Gregory and the ladies on the team on the sweep.

Baseball Takes on Abilene Christian. If you’re in the Midland area, make sure and go check out the baseball team as they take on Abilene Christian tonight, first pitch at 6:30 pm. LHP Ty Damron will pitch for Texas Tech. Midland Reporter-Telegram’s Oscar LeRoy writes about the homecoming for Bryant Burleson and Matt Withrow:

“It’ll be great,” said Burleson, an infielder, about the game. “We had a great turnout last year and had a lot of fun playing in the game. I hope fans come out and I hope it’s a good atmosphere just like last year.”
Added Withrow, a hard-throwing right-handed pitcher: “It’s really cool to see how much the Midland and Odessa communities support Texas Tech baseball. This year a lot of my friends are going to be at the game.”

Smith Named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week . . . Again. Congrats to Cameron Smith as he won the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week award yet again. This is the third time this year he’s won the award and is the first player in the program to win this award three times:

Smith pitched 8.1 shutout innings during Tech’s 7-1 victory over K-State on Saturday while allowing only two base runners to reach scoring position, four hits, two walks and struck out six batters. He earned his fifth win of the season (13th career) while retiring 11 consecutive batters from the first-to-fifth inning and had at least one strikeout in each of the first five frames. In addition, Smith also retired seven straight batters from the sixth-to-eighth inning.

Competition for Izundu Stepping Up. Well, Tubby Smith wasn’t the only coach to hone in on 5-star center Ebuka Izundu as Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky and Uncon have all shown interest recently. Texas Tech will visit on campus this week, as will UConn.

Raider Reds Revealed. From Texas Tech, the three Raider Reds were revealed, Carson Roye, Cody Lancaster and Zachary Fisher. Thank you to all three to served Texas Tech so well!
