I’m a little late to the game on this (I was doing very important business that you’ll get to see tomorrow morning at 10:00 am), but Texas Tech and Tubby Smith have received a commitment from JUCO point guard Devon Thomas. Full credit here goes to Wreck’Em 24/7’s Daniel Paulling and Michael Labarre, so click on over.
Thomas is a 6’0″ point guard from Cloud County College, where he was really terrific, averaging 16.9 points, 51.8% from the floor, 64.3% from the free throw line, 29.9% from the three-point line, 6.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds a game last year. I’ve never been able to find video of Thomas from his JUCO days, but here’s some high school video where you get the idea that he can just score and he can score in bunches.
Aside from being a good shooter, I love his assist to turnover ratio, where he averaged only 3 or so turnovers a game to 6 assists. Texas Tech needs a good point guard that can push Keenan Evans and you never know who will transfer. We’ll get a full player profile tomorrow or Tuesday.
