The Lady Raiders (15-13, 5-11 Big12) are coming home for their final home game of the season. They are coming off a loss to Iowa State in Ames, IA where they fell behind by 21 points and just could not get enough baskets to make up the difference in the 2nd half. Ivonne CookTaylor and Dayo Olabode each scored in double digits (13 and 11 respectively) and both had 7 rebounds each but the gap from the first half was just too much and it did not help that Amber Battle had another off night. Battle only scored 7 points and Kelsi Baker was the only one to be fouled by the Cyclones but she made both of those shots but only 2 other baskets in the game. The Lady Raiders had been averaging 51.7% of their 3-pt shots but only completed 5 out of 19 (26.3%) against the Cyclones. Final Score was 47 to 59.

Tonight the Lady Raiders take on the Oklahoma State Cowgirls (18-9, 8-8 Big12) for Senior night at “The USA” in Lubbock, TX at 7pm CST. This will be the 56th meeting between these teams with Texas Tech holding the lead in the series 32-23. Texas Tech is 15-8 when playing in Lubbock. I am hoping that the Seniors Amber Battle and Kelsi Baker have their best nights and go out with a bang on their home courts. Senior Guard #24 Audrisa Harrison will be recognized tonight but she tore her ACL in a summer practice and has been out for the season. I am hoping that the Lady Raiders play strong and cohesively and that they focus on their attempts on the basket and get back in their rhythm of shooting well beyond the arc. That will not be an easy task against the Cowgirls as they are the best in the Big12 in defending against the 3-pt shot and are one of the stronger rebounding teams in the conference too. The Lady Raiders are going to have to play a very physical and defensive game and be aggressive on the boards. The name of the game will be ball control and controlling the pace. Amber Battle is 6 points shy of scoring 1,000 points so I want her to score and score some more.

The Oklahoma State Cowgirls are coming off a loss to the Longhorns on Wednesday night in Austin, TX. The OSU Cowgirls are led by Senior Forward #4 Liz Donohoe who averages 11.7 ppg, and 5 rpg and hits over 87.7% of her free-throws. She is supported by Senior Center #55 Lashawn Jones who averages 11 ppg and 6.6 rpg and Junior Guard #22 Brittney Martin who pulls in 14 ppg and 8.7 rpg. Sophomore Guard #00 Roshunda Johnson who averages 10.9 ppg and 3.6 rpg and is a strong 3-pt shooter (over 40% accurate). Junior Guard #23 Roddricka Patton has not played much this season but had a career high 14 points against WV and makes over 62%of her free-throws and makes over 4 Assists in games played. The Cowgirls are best in the Big12 in Scoring Defense (55.5%) and 3-Pt Defense allowing only an average of 28.7%. They are 3rd in 3-pt shots (35%) and Rebounding Defense (34/game) and Assists (9.41/game). Where the Cowgirls struggle is at the charity stripe.

The Starters for today’s game are: Sophomore Guard #2 Ivonne CookTaylor is averaging 8.7 ppg and 4.3 rpg. Junior Guard #11 Rayven Brooks had 7.8 points and 3.3 rebounds and is currently ranked 12th and 11threspectively in the Big12 standings for Blocked Shots and Steals with 24 blocks and 42 Steals this season. Senior Forward #41 Kelsi Baker averages 8.9 ppg and 5.2 rebounds and is ranked 13th in the Big12 standing in Offensive Rebounds (2.27/game) and 8th in FT% at 71.2% (78-108). Junior Forward #35 Jamie Roe averages 3.7 ppg and 3.4 rebounds.   Senior Guard #12 Amber Battle who averages 15.8 ppg and 5.7 rebounds and is 75.6% accurate from the free-throw line. Battle is currently 4th in the Big 12 in scoring, 5th in FT percentage and in Defensive Rebounds (4.67 rpg)..
