Herb Hand is the offensive line coach and was at Auburn with Gus Malzahn before arriving at Texas and had moved around at West Virginia, Tulsa, and Vanderbilt, where Hand has a terrific reputation for developing lines . . . Yurcich’s offense is plenty of RPO’s and vertical passing with a powerful running game and plenty of tempo. This sort of sounds like every other offense, but Yurcich loves different formations, particularly in the backfield . . . Ash’s defense is a 4-2-5 with a quarters coverage in the secondary as the base, I believe it is quite a bit of bracket coverage . . . Texas Tech fans had nightmares of the Sterns brothers from the Houston Baptist game and older brother Caden Sterns is the starting free safety for the Longhorns. Thankfully, Caden does not play offense . . . Cade Brewer is the starting tight end, younger brother to Michael Brewer and Charlie Brewer, Michael the former Texas Tech quarterback and Charlie the current Baylor quarterback . . . Texas demolished UTEP a week or so ago, 59-3, limiting UTEP to 233 total yards, while piling up nearly 700 yards of total offense and averaging over 9 yards a play . . .
